Project / Control Tower & Airport Car Park, Southend
Client / London Southend Airport (Stobart Group)
Value & Duration / £3.0m - 28 weeks
This project involved both airside and landside construction
operations on a busy regional airport. London Southend Airport has
been developed in readiness for increased passenger flights as a
result of the London 2012 Olympics. A new air traffic control tower
was constructed alongside the existing runway, the works also
involved construction of a new 500 space passenger car park to
service the proposed new terminal and railway station. The
construction of a new 130 foot tall tower within an operational
commercial airport posed numerous challenges, our management team
successfully dealt with the interface with the Civil Aviation
Authority and Airport Management to deliver the project in the
required timescales.
